Book a Mental Health Speaker Who Speaks From Lived Experience

Some talks inform. The right talk changes how a room thinks about mental health — and what people do next.

The Jordan Legacy delivers talks and workshops on mental wellbeing and suicide prevention across the UK. Our founder, Steve Phillip, and members of our team speak from lived experience of losing someone to suicide, always with honesty, safety and hope.

"Most kids looked up to Jordan. He was fiercely loyal and would always stand up for the underdog, publicly confronting bullies or those who would mock others."

Why book a suicide prevention speaker with lived experience?

Steve founded The Jordan Legacy after his son, Jordan, took his own life in December 2019. Rather than staying silent, Steve chose to speak — and to help others start the conversations that save lives.

Before founding The Jordan Legacy, Steve spent more than 11 years running a successful consultancy practice — providing coaching, training and keynote speaking in the world of social media and sales and marketing — so audiences get both a deeply human story and a polished, confident delivery. His story and insights on suicide prevention have reached a global audience of millions, and he has been invited to speak to the Government's Cabinet Office, the Department for Health & Social Care, the Home Office, the MOD, corporate businesses and the military.

What do our talks and workshops cover?

Every session is tailored to your audience, but popular themes include:

  • Jordan's story and the case for hope — why we believe most suicides are preventable
  • How to have difficult conversations — asking about suicide safely and directly
  • Spotting the signs — recognising when a colleague, student or friend is struggling
  • Creating psychologically safe environments — in workplaces, schools and communities
  • Moving towards a Zero Suicide Society — practical actions anyone can take

All talks follow safe messaging guidelines. We never share method details, and every session ends with clear signposting to support.

This short showreel video demonstrates the impact and emotion Steve shares during his talks. By combining lived experience and practical advice about how to better understand suicide and how to support those who may be vulnerable in schools, workplaces and in communities, Steve's talks give confidence to those listening that they too can help prevent a suicide from happening.

“Steve’s talk to our employees had a profoundly important impact. Some people opened up and spoke of their own losses, some quietly reflected, some spoke of concerns about loved ones and others were simply educated.”

“Steve delivered each talk in an age appropriate manner, in an engaging and powerful way, which those attending continued to discuss long after his talks had finished” : Department of Education / HM Government of Gibraltar”

Watch Steve’s TedX Talk; ‘Zero suicide-creating ripples of hope’ His talk was delivered at The Students Union at UWE - Bristol in 2024.

Preventing suicides is one of the biggest transformational change initiatives society faces today and although suicide can affect anyone, everyone can play a part in preventing suicides. Steve explains how significant change will happen when many micro-actions come together as one collaborative approach to saving lives. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by the local community.
