Gifts in Wills: Leave a Legacy of Hope

What we believe

"Most kids looked up to Jordan. He was fiercely loyal and would always stand up for the underdog, publicly confronting bullies or those who would mock others."

A gift in your will is one of the most meaningful ways to support suicide prevention. It costs nothing today, yet it can help protect lives for generations to come.

The Jordan Legacy was founded from love and loss — and from the belief that suicide is one of the most preventable causes of death. More than 7,000 people die by suicide each year in the UK. Legacy giving helps us keep working towards a future where far fewer families know that pain.

Why leave a gift in your will?

After you have taken care of the people you love, a charitable gift in your will lets your values live on. Your legacy could help us:

  • Continue our practical, action-focused suicide prevention work in workplaces, schools and communities.
  • Reach people before they reach crisis point.
  • Keep hope alive for families across the UK, long into the future.

Every gift, whatever its size, is received with deep gratitude — and used with great care.

How to leave money to charity in your will

Leaving a charitable gift is usually straightforward:

  • Speak to a solicitor or professional will writer. They can help you write a new will or add a simple update (a codicil) to an existing one.
  • Choose your gift. You might leave a share of your estate (a residuary gift), a fixed sum (a pecuniary gift), or a specific item.
  • Include our details. Your solicitor will need the charity's full name and contact details to make sure your gift reaches us safely.

We always recommend taking professional advice so your will reflects your wishes exactly and your loved ones are looked after first.
