Working Towards a Zero Suicide Society

Every year, more than 7,000 people take their own lives in the UK. Suicide is the biggest killer of adults under 35 — and we believe most suicides are preventable.

The Jordan Legacy is a suicide prevention organisation founded in memory of Jordan Phillip, who died by suicide in December 2019, aged 34. We exist to turn loss into hope, and hope into practical action.

Who we are

We are a not-for-profit community interest company based in Harrogate, formed by Jordan's father, Steve Phillip, in 2020. Everything we do carries Jordan's values: kindness, listening, and standing up for those who are struggling.

What we believe

Suicide can affect anyone — yet everyone can help prevent suicide. Our vision is a "zero suicide society": one that is willing and able to do all it can to prevent every preventable suicide.

That takes practical action from all of us — in our homes, schools, workplaces and communities.

Support and resources — clear, compassionate guidance if you're struggling or worried about someone.

Why does suicide prevention matter?

Each suicide is estimated to affect around 135 people — family, friends, colleagues and neighbours. That means hundreds of thousands of people in the UK are touched by suicide loss every year.

Behind every number is a person like Jordan. Research suggests most people who attempt suicide do not want to die — they want the pain to stop. With the right support at the right time, lives can be saved.
